Ion exchange

The aim of our experience is to study adsorpton and Ion exchange characteristic zeolites and soil with using chromatoyraphic method.

We had some lectures at the institute of Phisical and Organic chemistry named P. Melikishvili   and we worked in chromatographic laboratory.

In order to study adsorption and Ionexchange characteristic zeolites it was used chromatographic method.

We used chromatographical columns and its length was 20sm. diameter � 2,5sm. We put into the columns 20gr. zeolites in 15sm. length.

For getting clean zeolites we used 5% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) 5% hydrachloric acid (HCl) and distilled water.

The speed of piltration was 5ml/min. and 10 ml/min. We poured into 200ml. molar solution of hydrachloric copper (CuCL₂) and hydrachloric nickel (NiCL₂).

Volume precipitationn-solution reduced.

T. Andronikashvili

Ac. T. Andronikashvili works at the institute of phisical and organic chemistry named P. Melikishvili. Ac. G. Tsitsishvili and T. Andronikashvili are chairmen of studing zeolites. We recorded some of the questions that we had asked him.

Questions:

1. How important is using zeolites?
2. How long does it take to study the characters of zeolites?
3. Where we can use zeilites?
4. Are wee people informed about this natural mineral zeolites?
5. what about of NASA project do they use zeolites?

Answers:

1. Zeolites are ,,subject in a subject� it means they have big area for using.
2. The megic characters of zeolites are learned for a long time. Today we can't open  all its characterising.
3. We can use zeolites everywhere in Agrycultry, in factory like adsorbenty, in madicine and etc.
4. I think yes. People are known about this. For example when in atomic reactor was blow up in Chernobil zeolites were used like a adcorbents.
5. Yes I hope NASA use zeolites. We send them some our works. Here I want to tell everyone that zeolites are the ,,products of civilization of the XXI of century�.

We thanked him for a spend time with us, he gave to us lectury course.

In future we are going to continue our project.

On this stage included the pupils of the 7^th grade of the public school No 170. They took part in this project.
